We are pleased to announce that Dassai Blue Sake Brewery, designed by Jun Mitsui & Associates Inc. Architects, has been featured in the international architecture and design publication DESIGN COURIER.

Located in Hyde Park, New York, Dassai Blue Sake Brewery was developed by Asahi Shuzo as a sake brewery and visitor center. Through the adaptive reuse of an existing building, the design brings together local materials and the surrounding landscape with Japanese spatial principles, expressing what Jun Mitsui describes as “American dynamism and Japanese sensitivity.”

The article features an interview with Jun Mitsui and explores the design of the project in detail, including its adaptive reuse approach, the use of American red cedar, and the concept of the engawa, a transitional space connecting the architecture and garden.
