A Hub of Vibrancy Enveloped by Groves

This is a plan for a three-story commercial facility adjacent to the “Brillia Tower Seiseki-Sakuragaoka BLOOMING RESIDENCE (2022)” on the preceding block. The building is located at the center of the three-block development site, and the remaining block is also planned for condominium construction. This commercial facility is a key part of Tama City’s plans. It is the closest facility to the Tama River along the route between Seiseki-Sakuragaoka Station on the Keio Line and the Tama River.

To enhance continuity with the open lawn plaza in the adjacent block, a pedestrian space was created along the lawn plaza, forming a unified, expansive landscape area. The exterior finishes carry over the preceding block’s design, employing a paving pattern that directs attention toward the Tama River. Thus, the landscape design prioritizes unity as part of the integrated development.

The building design concept, “GROVE,” which signifies a stand of trees, was chosen to harmonize with the trees in the preceding block and the surrounding area. The result is a façade with a delicate sense of scale. Vertical louvers were installed on the façade, which features numerous glass openings, to evoke the appearance of a grove. The random arrangement of the louvers creates a rhythmic pattern that expresses the enjoyment inherent in a commercial facility.

The GROVE concept is extended into the entrance and elevator lobbies on each floor, where spaces are created that evoke the feeling of sunlight filtering through foliage. This effect is achieved through wood-grain wallpaper, rhythmically placed vertical metal joints, and expressive flooring materials. The third-floor waiting area has a circular, coved ceiling designed to resemble the sky seen through trees. It also serves as an eye-catching feature when viewing the building from the lawn plaza.

As the three blocks develop, a vibrant community will emerge around this commercial facility, creating a major urban node. This node will play a significant role in achieving the project’s goal of “attracting people from Seiseki-Sakuragaoka Station to the Tama River.”
