In this renovation project, we designed a shared space in the Minato Mirai Center Building, which is a seven-year-old office building.
Based on the three concepts of CASUAL, CREATIVE and INSPIRING, we designed a comfortable Yokohama-style office space that would readily give rise to new ideas.
Visitors taking the escalator from Minato Mirai Station directly to the third floor, where the office entrance is located, will find a space that embodies the idea of “biophilia” (the theory that people experience feelings of peace and happiness when close to nature). By surrounding users of the space with wooden louvers and greenery, the building engenders a sense of comfort and ease. The eye-catching nameplate at the entrance is boldly covered with greenery and serves as an attractive focal point that warmly welcomes visitors.
In addition, the lounge at the office entrance is characterized by stylish carpet, pendant lights and comfortable designer chairs. We designed this space to be used in various ways. At the lounge, office workers can get together, have a meeting or take a break with a cup of coffee. We hope that the space encourages the generation of new ideas of the kind that tend not to emerge in desk-based settings. Furthermore, for the planters at the reception counter and the EV hall, we use curved lines inspired by ships, symbolizing the Minato Mirai area. They are designed to gently welcome visitors into the space.
We hope this renovation design of the Minato Mirai Center Building will give rise to innovative thinking among office workers in this building and surrounding office buildings.
