Maya City Nada Front is the first building you see in this development area as you walk from JR Nada station. The building is positioned at one end of the large 1km rectangular site where future development has been progressing and is the building that is closest to the station.
An especially important feature to this site is that the shape is narrow and long, and because it’s in a residential area the height is very restricted, so the resulting building volume is long and narrow.
To work with this reality, we started by reducing the appearance of the long building by dividing it into smaller spans, and tried to harmonize the building with the houses and town blocks around, and consider what it looks like from the road.
Detailed expressions were added by using small and large white frames covering the whole building, producing a calm view from the road through contrast with the other walls of light earthy color, and the contrast against the dark color of the Rokko mountains and trees in the background. The common space lacked natural light due to neighboring buildings so the interior was designed to allow in as much light as possible through the glass walls, creating a comfortable lobby with a feeling of space.
The key to the design this time was the surfaces used to make the main facade. This design method was repeated in all the blocks throughout the development to the other end, and it became a new design to the new town called Maya City. We hope that this building will be a comfortable home to many people over the coming years.
